Luc Martin

Born in Alexandria, Ontario, Luc studied composition at the University of Ottawa where he graduated with a Masters in Music in 2004. Under the tutelage of Steven Gellman and John Armstrong, Luc developed, a style of composition that is unique and yet accessible. Luc's main musical influences are Beethoven, Shostakovich and the impressionist composers of the early 20th century.

Now residing in Timmins Ontario, Luc spends most of his free time working on various composition projects. In addition to the composition of the Heart of Gold musical, he is presently working on a series of piano preludes and a multi-movement work for oboe d'amore and string quartet. Most recently he has completed the composition of the single movement work Petits oiseaux bleus for cello and flute.

Luc's works have been performed throughout Canada. The Ottawa Chamber Music society has premiered several works including Fugue (2004) and Scherzo (2005). The Kanata Symphony Orchestra premiered Luc's first piano concerto in 2004. More recently, The Xstrata String Quartet premiered Trio #1 during its 2009-2010 chamber series. The Timmins Symphony Orchestra premiered the multi-movement orchestral work Metempsychose III, à mémoire d’amélie Guertinà during the opening concert of 2010 main concert series.
