Stephanie Martin
 Biography

An award-winning conductor and composer, Stephanie Martin has wide musical interests ranging from Gregorian chant to gamelan; from Froberger to folksong. A guardian of musical heritage and a creative collaborator, she is known for imaginative programming and for creating sustainable musical communities.

Martin’s choral compositions are regularly performed by the Gallery Choir of the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, Pax Christi Chorale and by the six-voice women’s ensemble Schola Magdalena. Recent wards for composition include first prize in the Exultate Chamber Singers composition competition (2009), and first prize in the Association of Anglican Musicians composer’s competition (2010). She was accepted as an Associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre in 2011. Martin is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts, York University, Toronto.
